Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of professional self-efficacy, satisfaction with life, and burnout on job performance, with work engagement as a mediating variable among employees of Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in Ciamis Regency, Indonesia. Drawing on the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) theory, the research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. Data were collected from 134 SPPG employees using a structured questionnaire and analyzed through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results reveal that professional self-efficacy and satisfaction with life have positive and significant effects on both work engagement and job performance. Work engagement significantly mediates the relationships between professional self-efficacy and job performance, as well as between satisfaction with life and job performance. In contrast, burnout does not significantly influence work engagement or job performance, nor does it show a significant mediating effect. These findings underscore the critical role of positive personal resources in enhancing employee performance in public nutrition service organizations. Theoretically, the study strengthens the JD-R framework by highlighting the motivational pathway driven by personal resources. Practically, the results suggest that SPPG management should focus on developing employees’ professional self-efficacy, life satisfaction, and work engagement to improve service quality and program effectiveness.
